Service Terms & Agreement

1. Services Provided

S.T.A.R. Tax Protest ("the Company") agrees to provide property tax protest services for the property identified in the registration form ("the Property"). These services include:

  • Filing a formal protest with the appropriate county appraisal district
  • Preparing evidence to support a reduction in the assessed value of the Property
  • Representing the Client at informal settlement conferences and/or formal hearings
  • Providing updates throughout the protest process

2. Fees and Payment

The Company operates on a contingent fee basis. The Client agrees to pay the Company a fee equal to 30% of the Client's first-year tax savings resulting from any reduction in the Property's assessed value obtained through the Company's services.

If the Company does not secure a reduction in the Property's assessed value, no fee will be charged.

Payment is due within 30 days of receiving notice of the successful reduction in assessed value.

3. Client Responsibilities

The Client agrees to:

  • Provide accurate information about the Property
  • Promptly respond to requests for additional information or documentation
  • Notify the Company of any direct communications from the appraisal district regarding the Property
  • Not engage other agents or representatives to protest the same Property for the same tax year

4. Authorization and Power of Attorney

By submitting this form, the Client authorizes the Company to act as the Client's agent in all matters related to protesting the Property's assessed value, including filing protests, negotiating with the appraisal district, and representing the Client at hearings.

5. Term and Termination

This agreement is effective for the current tax year and may be terminated by either party with written notice. If the Client terminates the agreement after the Company has filed a protest but before the protest is resolved, the Client agrees to pay a cancellation fee of $150.

6. Limitation of Liability

The Company does not guarantee any specific reduction in assessed value or tax savings. The Company's liability is limited to the amount of fees paid by the Client.

7. Privacy Policy

The Company will collect and use the Client's personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy. The Client consents to the collection, use, and storage of their personal information for the purpose of providing the services outlined in this agreement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens after I submit this form?

After you submit the form, one of our representatives will contact you within 1-2 business days to confirm your information and provide details about the next steps in the protest process.

Do I need to gather evidence for my protest?

No, our team will handle all of the evidence gathering using our proprietary data analysis tools and local market expertise. However, if you have specific information about your property that might support a lower valuation (e.g., repair needs, flooding issues), please share it with us.

How will I know if my protest is successful?

We'll keep you updated throughout the process via our online portal and email notifications. Once a decision is reached, we'll provide you with details about your new assessed value and estimated tax savings.

What if my protest is unsuccessful?

If we're unable to secure a reduction in your property's assessed value, you won't owe us any fees. Our contingent fee structure means we only get paid when you save money.

How is the fee calculated?

Our standard fee is 30% of your first-year tax savings. For example, if your property taxes are reduced by $1,000 for the tax year, our fee would be $300. The remaining $700 is your savings.

Can I still protest my taxes if I have a homestead exemption?

Yes, absolutely! While homestead exemptions do provide some tax relief, they don't prevent increases in your property's assessed value. Protesting your assessment can provide additional savings beyond what your exemption offers.
